Successful termination
I just had a client who was certain that a firing was going to turn into a big lawsuit. It was Friday afternoon, the employee and boss had gotten into a shouting/cussing argument, and the employer definitely wanted to fire the guy immediately. Instead, the employer told the employee to go home, and he was om paid leave til Tuesday at 10 am. When he came in the employer had a well drafted termination letter ready, they paid him thru Friday, his paycheck was in with the letter, and they offered him one week for each year of service if he signed a release. The employee was satisfied and a major suit was avoided.
